Just a quick update as our Fall Session is in full swing. We have master classes the last week of September, I have a solo performance coming up at the Trailhead, and some reminders.
Our first Master Class Week is coming up. For all continuing students, we will have master classes the week of September 26th.
Master Classes are an opportunity to gather in small groups to meet other students, practice performance, and work skills and exercises that are more effective in a group setting. Our youth students through high school students meet for the class on Monday. Adults meet on Tuesday. Master Classes take the place of our usual lessons. Beginner students will have regular lessons.
This month the adult master class will return to the home of Harry and Anne Schneider in honor of Harry’s 87th birthday!
Here’s the schedule for September:
Monday, September 26
Youth 4:30-5:25 Rehearsal Hall in the Music Building, Piano Room, 2nd floor (#33 campus map)
MS 5:30-6:25 Rehearsal Hall in the Music Building, Piano Room, 2nd floor (#33 campus map)
HS 6:30-7:30 Rehearsal Hall in the Music Building, Piano Room, 2nd floor (#33 campus map)
Tuesday, September 27

Kevin McCormick at the Trailhead Stage
I will be performing an afternoon concert at the Schreiner University Trailhead Stage on Sunday, September 25. The music begins at 2:30PM with our studio-mate, Bill Muse. I will join him around 3:00PM to trade tunes and then my solo set begins around 4:00PM. I will be performing a collection of my own songs, including some recent creations, as well as music by songwriters that I love.
The Sunday Afternoon Songwriters series focuses on the craft of songwriting. Bill’s wife Mary Muse runs the Kerrville Folk Festival and many of the artists of the series are performers from the festival. It is an extension of the SongKeepers program at the Rock House where we have our lessons.
Come on out for an afternoon of music. It’s free and open to the public!
Just a couple of reminders.
° The front room of the Rock House has been occupied much more of late and sometimes it’s pretty crowded in there in the afternoon. You are always welcome to enter through the back door which comes directly into the studio.
If you choose to come to the back door, please wait until the lesson before you has finished before entering. I try to be very aware of starting and finishing lessons on time, however if we’re a few minutes overtime feel free to knock…and the door shall be opened to you.
° Also, if you missed it from the August newsletter—tuition rates for this fall session:
30 mins. $120/mo.
45 mins. $175/mo.
60 mins. $220/mo.
Payment is due the first lesson of the month (Sept./Oct./Nov./Dec.).
Thank you all for being a part of our Mirabilis Guitar Studio! It’s a pleasure to work with you and your children.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions for the studio.
