Spring Session
We’re fully into our Spring Session and we have some special events coming up this month.  Take look!

Calendar Changes
Please note, I have made a couple of adjustments to our calendar.

1) The icy blast last month threw us off a bit, so I’ve moved our Master Class Week to the end of the month to give everyone more time to prepare some music. So Master Class week for February will be the 23rd through 27th (see the details below). Remember that these are also good weeks to schedule make up lessons if you need.

2) Because of the proximity of Spring Break and Easter this year we’re going to try moving our Easter Break to start on Thursday before Easter and run through the following Wednesday. Hopefully this will not cause too much confusion and it will allow for more continuity in our schedule.

Master Classes
As noted above, we are moving our master class week to the end of the month.  On Master Class Weeks we meet for one-hour (1.5 for adults) group lessons to get used to playing for others and to learn and work with other guitar students. Those who have just started learning the guitar will have regular lessons.  Master Classes are held at either the Music Building or the Campus Ministry Building.  I will send the details in a reminder email closer to the date.

These weeks also allow opportunities for make lessons for those who need them.

Mirabilis Mystery Tour to Hill Country Luthier Michael Fontenot
At the end of our week we will have our annual Mirabilis Mystery Tour! Last year we made the trip to Hearts Home Acoustic in Boerne.  This year we have an opportunity to visit guitar builder Michael Fontenot’s studio in Fredericksburg. Michael is a longtime resident of the Hill Country and an old friend.

Michael studied classical guitar in college and was even roommates for a time with the world-renowned classical guitarist Eliot Fisk! Later he became a pediatrician and served the Kerrville area for over 20 years. In retirement he decided to return to combine his scientific mind with his love for guitar and began building guitars. He is now a full time luthier with a beautiful workshop in Fredericksburg. He has agreed to open his workshop to us so that we can learn about how guitars are built from scratch–all handmade!

This field trip will be on Saturday, February 28th at 10:00am in Fredericksburg and is open to everyone in our studio. Next week I will send out a text to get a headcount. My hope is that we can go as a single group. I’ll have to see about available space for parents and spouses. More details will follow in the coming weeks.

Student Registration Form
Beginning with this semester I’m using a registration form to be sure that I have all of your student info. Some of you have completed these and others will be completed over the next two weeks.

Tuition Rate Change Reminder
Most of you remembered to switch to the new rate beginning in January.
