Guitar Tip of the Month: Practice During the BreakWe have a few weeks off this year between the end of the Spring Session and the beginning of the Summer Session. It’s a good time to have some fun with your guitar practice. Change things up bit for this stretch. Try out some new music. Play your favorites. You don’t want to lose your chops (basic skills), so it’s a good idea to keep your warm-up routine. Depending on your level that might include stretches, exercises, scales and arpeggios.
But after the warm up just play the music that captures your interest for the day and enjoy the break!
Our 8-week Summer Session will begin on Monday, June 14th and run through Friday, August 6. As always, I will do my best to accommodate adjustments to the lesson schedule as needed for camps and vacations.
COST: $220 for 30-min lessons $420 for 1-hour lessons
Payments can be made in-full or in two monthly amounts.
The lesson schedule will remain the same unless a change is requested.
The week of July 12 we will have master classes at the new outdoor stage. Details to follow next month.
As mentioned last month, the studio will be moving to Schreiner University beginning with with Summer Session. Schreiner has been a generous partner for Mirabilis Studio for many years with our master classes and guitar ensemble meeting in the Summerlin Music Building and our recitals being held in the beautiful concert spaces in the campus ministry building.
We will be located in the Rock House (#13 on the campus map) which is an older building incorporated into the newly constructed Trailhead area at the back of the campus. Our lesson space will be in a historic building right at the Kerrville River Trail Schreiner Trailhead. In addition to the lesson studio space there is a brand new outdoor theater and the Trailhead Beer Garden (for thirsty parents and students of age). Also, the walking trail circles around the entire the Schreiner campus—so parents looking for a little exercise can enjoy a stroll. There’s even a disc golf course across the way!
We will be sharing space in the Rock House with Mr. Bill Muse who has a longtime association with the Kerrville Folk Festival. His new venture for Schreiner is called the Songkeepers. This will be a group of Schreiner students who will gather for songwriting sessions and workshops in the front room of the house.
PLEASE NOTE: We will have a separate entrance at the back of the house directly into the teaching studio.
The studio room will be in the back corner of the house. I will be moving everything the last week of May (I’m hoping that everything will fit!). As usual parents are encouraged to sit in on the lessons, especially for younger students. If the front room is not being used, you are also welcome to wait there if you prefer.
Directions and more details will be included in the June Newsletter once I’ve finalized everything with the university.
Lessons will begin there with the start of the Summer Session on Monday, June 14th.
The Schreiner University campus officially re-opens to the public on June 1. Feel free to take a preview of the Trailhead before our lessons begin.
Looking forward to heading to our new digs!
