If you’re reading this then you have found our new website design beautifully re-done by our friend Jacqui Lockerd at Mosaic Creative Marketing (based here in Kerrville).  We hope you like the new look as much as we do.  Please feel free to forward any comments via email or our Facebook page to give us feedback on the new design and offer suggestions if you have them. We finally have a page that you should be able to view on your phones and tablets without needing to get a new pair of glasses.  Thank you Jacqui!

We are also very happy to welcome our friend Monica Clayton as an assistant in the studio office.  She will be mainly handling bookkeeping and you may receive messages from her from time to time.

Our spring recital is coming up next month.  See below for details.  This month we have our Easter break which will be a slightly different this year.  Take a look.

Easter Break

We’re going to try things a bit differently for Easter Break this year.  There are some schools that are off for the holiday weekend through Monday the 22nd.  So to accommodate this conflict here’s the plan:

Monday students will have regular lessons on Monday, April 16.  Make up lessons will be available to those who need them Tuesday and Wednesday of that week.  There will be no regular lessons in Kerrville or Fredericksburg on those make up days.  Then we’ll have a full break from Thursday the 18th through Monday the 22nd.  Regular lessons will resume on Tuesday, April 23rd.

I hope that’s clear enough, but if not here’s what the calendar looks like:

Apr. 15  Regular Lessons
Apr. 16 – 17  Make up lessons (no regular lessons these days)
April 18 – 22 EASTER HOLIDAY

Regular lessons resume on Tuesday Apr. 23.

Studio Recital

Mark your calendars! Our studio recital is scheduled for Sunday, May 19 at 3:00 PM.  All students should have a solo or duo piece selected for performance at the recital by the end of this first week of April.

Summer Session

Our summer session will also run slightly differently this year.

The main session will run seven weeks from June 24 through August 9.  As always, we will keep the same lesson schedule unless you have a need to make a change.  Master Classes will be the week of July 4.

However, each student will also have one floating lesson which can be taken at any time throughout the summer.  Schedule permitting, you can add the time to another lesson or double up for a week and choose focus on a particular topic.  To facilitate this the first week of June will be an open schedule for lessons.  You can choose any available time to set up a lesson.

So the summer calendar looks like this:

Jun. 3 – 7 Open-Schedule Lessons
Jun. 10 – 14 No Lessons
Jun. 17 – 21 No Lessons
Jun. 24 – 28 Regular Lessons

Jul. 8 – 12 Regular Lessons
Jul. 15 – 19 Regular Lessons
Jul. 22 – 26 Regular Lessons
Jul. 29 – Aug. 2 Regular Lessons

Aug. 5 – 9 Regular Lessons

Schreiner Student Recitals

This year we are lucky to have two senior recitals at Schreiner University which will feature guitar.

The first recital will be guitarist Austin “Bob” Bryant.  Bob chose Schreiner University specifically to come study guitar.  He has achieved a great deal in his four years at Schreiner, including becoming quite a player.  Bob will play the “Five Preludes” by Villa-Lobos, the Allegro Risoluto from the “Grand Sonata in A major” by Paganini, and the “D Major Lute Concerto” by Vivaldi accompanied by string trio.  He will also perform on cello and piano. Bob’s performance will be held at the Recital Hall in the Junkin Campus Ministry Center on Saturday, April 27 at 7:00 PM

The second recital will be the following evening.  Jacob Collazo is also a music major studying percussion, drums, and guitar.  His recital will include music by Leo Brouwer and Matthew Hinsley as well as performances on marimba, trap kit, and piano.  Jacob’s performance will be on Sunday, April 28th at 7:30 PM in the Rehearsal Hall of the Music Building.

Hope you can make it to one or both of these great recitals.

Guitars For Sale

I have a growing number of guitars for sale for those interested in upgrading either the size or the quality of instrument.  I have a few 3/4-size and a nice 7/8-size, as well as some full-size instruments.  Most of these have been lightly played and only need a cleaning and new set of strings.  These are bargain deals so let me know if you’re interested.
